INFORMATION FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS

Mississippi Children's Home Services is a private, non-profit agency offering a license adoption program. Our program has created several adoption options to meet the needs of adoptive families. We are committed to providing flexible and personalized adoption experiences for adoptive families. AGENCY ADOPTIONS
Our most traditional service, connects birth parents who contact our agency with adoptive families to make an individualized adoption plan.  This option is limited to Mississippi residents. Placements are dependent upon the number of available birth mothers and the number of approved families waiting to adopt.  Families in this program are generally 21 to 45 years old and married at least two years.  Fees for Agency Adoptions are base upon a sliding scale.

NETWORKING ADOPTIONS
This program combines the best of agency and private adoptions for adoptive families.  It can provide a faster adoption that is both flexible and economical and can be directed and controlled by the adoptive family.  Upon completion and approval of the home study, the adoptive family works at their own pace in locating a child through another agency.

This exciting program has been modeled after other very successful programs nationwide. Networking encourages an adoptive family to identify their own wishes, rather than being totally dependent on the agency and granting greater flexibility regarding age limits, length of the marriage, and the number of children already in the home. Mississippi Children's Home is currently accepting new families into this program.

Itemized Fees:
* All fees are non-refundable, once services are provided.
* If you are a resident of Mississippi:

MINORITY ADOPTIONS
This adoption option was created to find adoptive homes for African-American and Caucasian/African American infants.  Most families are able to adopt a child within 6 to 12 months after home study approval.  We are currently accepting families from throughout the United States . Many of our birth parents are interested in similar race matching for their child; however, some are open to trans-racial placements. Minority adoption fees are based upon a sliding scale.

SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM
This adoption option finds adoptive homes for children who have emotional and behavioral problems, medical and physical disabilities, sibling groups and older children (ages 6-up).  Agency fees are kept to a minimum and are usually waived upon the placement of a child, if state assistance is available.  Families need to have the ability to provide the love, care, financial stability and patience necessary for this type of placement.  We are currently recruiting new families for special needs adoptions.

INTERNATIONAL ADOPTIONS
International Adoption Assistance:
This service is particularly for Mississippi residents.  It helps couples and singles adopt infants and young children from countries such as China , Guatemala , Korea , etc....  Many children from these countries are anxiously awaiting a loving and nurturing adoptive family.  Adopting internationally is an enriching cultural experience and provides the opportunity for international travel.  We assist families by conducting their home study and post-placement supervision and providing counseling and support.  We are currently accepting new families.

OTHER SERVICES
Home Study Services – Home Study Services help Mississippi couples who have already identified a child for adoption in another state or country and need a home study for Interstate Compact requirements.

Post Placement Services – Post Placement Services help Mississippi couples who have already adopted from another state or country and need post placement services.

Counseling – Counseling regarding adoption options and the adoption process is available.
