I am so glad that you are taking the time to explore the services that we offer. Mississippi Children's Home Services is a licensed, private, non-profit agency. However, you do not have to be from the state of Mississippi to work with our agency or our families. We believe that birth parents should have the freedom to customize the adoption plan that works best for them.Adoption is one of the most unselfish acts a parent can make for a child. Putting the child's welfare in front of your own feelings is a true act of love. This love is hard love...hard to decide...hard to do, and truly caring.Adoption involves placing a child legally and permanently with a family who will raise your child as their own. With our agency birth parents are active participants throughout the process. Birth parents select families for their child, and may meet them if they wish. We provide our birth parents with photographs and letters from the family as their child develops. At our agency birth parents always know they are welcome, appreciated and admired.Adoption is far from an easy way out. It is a difficult decision to make. We provide parents with support services before, during and after the placement of a child.We at Mississippi Children's Home Society build relationships that will last a lifetime. Confidential counseling for those unanswered questions...
How will I tell my parents? What about the father? Is marriage a solution? Can I live at home? Can I continue in school or at work? This is a period of self discovery as you decide the best course for you and your baby. It can also be a confusing, highly emotional time in which you must make one of the most important decisions of your life. Our caring, professional counselors will help you find answers to all of your questions as well as solutions you can live with.Our counseling services are confidential and free of charge. We also provide adoption information, support groups, care homes (House of Hope), doctor referrals, local counselor/support service, and follow-up services.

Should you decide that adoption is the best answer for you and your child, we will work with you to make an adoption plan that meets your individual needs. We offer all degrees of openness... you may choose your child's adoptive parents and work with them to decide the type and amount of communication through the years. It is our goal to help you feel positive about your decision and confident that you've helped give your child the best possible start in life.
We realize how difficult decisions are during this time in need. We understand that answers are hard to come by and support may not exist. We do not promise miracles or all the answers. However, we will promise you the support you need when making this overwhelming decision. During those special moments, and at those special times when you feel no one truly understands, we work really hard at trying to.
